Urban Gym Group acquires The Real Gym Bussum

Urban Gym Group (UGG) has acquired The Real Gym Bussum as of December 2022 and will rebrand it into TrainMore, bringing the total to 27 TrainMore gyms in the Netherlands.Marjolijn Meijer, founder of all Urban Gym Group’s labels and responsible for the expansion: “We had an increased focus on growing in Amsterdam, and we still do. Eight new locations of TrainMore have been realised in 2022, most of which are in Amsterdam. However, we see loyal TrainMore members, once students, moving towards secondary cities around our hometown. Haarlem is already a success. This led us to investigate growth opportunities for TrainMore outside of Amsterdam. For a longer period, we see an increased share of people aged 30 and 40+ feel at home in our gyms and are attracted to our concept. This target audience is well-represented in Bussum.TrainMore is known for the concept that taking good care of yourself should be rewarded, especially in a world where the right choice is often the more expensive option, such as sustainable and fresh food or driving an electric car. Members receive a €1 discount per workout they do.Meijer: “We are excited to transform the 900m2 gym space into TrainMore. The typical urban look and feel, other TrainMore characteristics and rewarding the members with the euro discount per workout will be introduced during the first quarter of 2023.”
A fitness group like no other

Earlier, Meijer announced the acquisition strategy of Urban Gym Group: “We are interested in having conversations with fitness clubs in Amsterdam or other major cities across the country. We are in talks with clubs where we can continue the existing activities and are also in contact with real estate owners who have large properties where gyms may be opened.”
