Amsterdam, January 5, 2021 - Jordy Kool is, as of today, co-CEO of fitness chain Urban Gym Group. In addition, he remains active at other organizations as an investor, advisor and supervisory director. Kool forms the board alongside Marjolijn Meijer, co-founder of the fitness chain in 1998. Kool: “Marjolijn carries the day-to-day responsibilities and heads the new management team. I focus, among other things, on raising finance, M&A, strategy, funding, innovation and act as sparring partner.” At the end of 2019, UGG announced its growth plans, including the opening of 25 new clubs at prime locations.Meijer: “Jordy used to be our advisor and is now my business partner. We complement each other and share the same passion and energy for health and fitness. We form a close and strong team together. In this new composition, we can make decisions quickly and focus on the growth of our organization. We are also making room for new initiatives, including digital fitness formulas. Jordy's experience in M&A, product development and leadership fits well with that.”This week, the CEOs announce further changes to the executive team. Barbara den Bak, founder of High Studios in 2015, is the new Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Innovation Officer of the UGG and will be involved in the development of new initiatives, among other things. She will transfer her role as Managing Director of High Studios to Michael Rustwat, the current Managing Director of TrainMore. Sjoerd van Rosmalen is also part of the UGG management team. He will take up project-based activities and makes way for young talent to take on his role as club manager of Clubsportive. In October 2020, the redistribution of UGG shares was announced. Co-founder Han Doorenbosch sold most of his shares to the other shareholders.
